TIME LINE

1874

Early beginnings

In 1874, Cornelis van 't Riet inherited the wheelwright shop on the Dorpsstraat in Aarlanderveen from his late father. At that time, farm carts, tilbury's & wheelbarrows were mainly produced. Other supplies for the farmers such as prickle tractors, milk blocks, clogs, etc. were also produced to their hearts' content.

First cheese vats

Around 1885, people began making wooden kaastobbes.

Dairy Tools

On July 16, 1888, the "Firma C. van 't Riet Zuivelwerktuigen" was established. From that time, the manufacture of dairy implements began to play an important role. By 1900, the turnover was already 2/3 dairy equipment and only 1/3 wagons.

Bartholomeus & Arie

In 1917, Mees and Arie (two sons of Cornelis) continued the business. During this time, when they were facing two wars, other items were added such as, for example, strekels and wooden buttons.

Wim, Johan, Arie & Cees

Beginning in 1942, four of Arie's sons entered the business. Wim unfortunately passed away early and Johan chose to work elsewhere after 15 years.

Reinforcement Piet Verburg

Cees and Arie were joined by Cees' son-in-law; Piet Verburg.

1981

Name change

Piet Verburg and Arie van 't Riet continued the business together. The company name will be changed to "C. van 't Riet Zuiveltechnologie B.V.".

Arie

After Arie's sudden death, Piet Verburg continues on his own. From then on, the company also began to focus much more on exporting to other countries.

2011

Moving to Nieuwkoop

After 122 years and many renovations of the factory in Aarlanderveen, no more expansion was possible and the company moved to a beautiful and larger building in Nieuwkoop.

Reinforcement Rémon Verburg

Since 2012, Rémon Verburg, the son of Piet Verburg & Marianne Verburg - Van 't Riet has been employed at C. van 't Riet Zuiveltechnologie BV and the foundation has been laid for a successful continuation of this beautiful family business.

Acquisition by Rémon Verburg

In 2022, Rémon took over the company and day-to-day management from Piet Verburg.
